Announcing our First Annual Mother's Day Giveaway!

Register to win by May 5th for a $200 gift card for a massage or facial for your mom.

Moms shout out, mothers to be, stepmoms, abuelas, aunties who act like moms, and women who step in as motherly figures! May you be celebrated and cherished. I was blessed with one of the BEST mothers in the world and I am thankful every day for the privilege of being a mom. However, if Mother’s Day is particularly painful for you, please know, you are not alone. You are seen and you are loved. May this Mother’s Day usher in a season of healing (maybe start that healing by registering to win the gift card for yourself).

Happy (Early) Mother's Day!

 Legally Speaking...

What a $418 million settlement on home-sale commissions may mean for you.

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has reached a $418 million settlement agreement in an antitrust lawsuit that could significantly change the way real estate commissions are handled in the United States. Traditionally, home sellers pay a commission of around 6% split between the seller's agent and the buyer's agent. This settlement, if approved by the court, would eliminate these fixed commissions. Instead, home buyers and sellers would negotiate fees directly with their agents. The NAR denies any wrong-doing but acknowledges the settlement. They claim it protects consumer choice and their members. The current system, where fees are listed on the MLS, has been criticized for potentially inflating home prices and creating a conflict of interest for buyer's agents. The settlement would remove these fees from the MLS and allow for more open negotiation.

Additionally, the settlement could include compensation for certain home buyers in the last three years.
